Joyce Hough

Joyce E. Hough, age 82, a resident of rural Bryant, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Portland.

Joyce was born on August 14, 1944, in Oil City, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Bernard and Waneta (Fox) Wygant. She worked for Pier-Mac Plastics and Berne Furniture for many years.

Joyce enjoyed crocheting, decorating cakes, and had a special place in her heart for both the elderly and babies. She especially enjoyed visiting with residents of local nursing homes. Joyce was a member of Bluffton Wesleyan Chapel.

Joyce married Burley “Muggs” Hough Sr. on November 3, 1961. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2004.

Her siblings:

Bernard Wygant (wife Susan) – Richwood, Ohio 

Bruce Wygant – Hartford City, Indiana 

Peggy Payne – Columbus, Ohio

She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Joyce was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Wygant, Mildred Replogle, Mark Wygant, and a daughter, Karen Sue Hough.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Cade Davis will officiate, and burial will follow at Grave
