Kathleen Medsker

Kathleen Prescott Medsker, age 101, a former Jay County resident, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Crowne Pointe in Greenfield, Indiana.

Kathleen was born on July 22, 1924, in rural Portland, Indiana, the daughter of Forest and Maggie (Baldauf) Greaf. She graduated from Portland High School in 1941 and was formerly employed at G.C. Murphy in Portland. Kathleen attended Salamonia Christian Church in Salamonia, Indiana, West Walnut Church of Christ in Portland and Morristown Methodist Church in Morristown, Indiana. She was a member of the Portland Optimist Club.

She spent several years living in Lakeland, Florida, where she enjoyed playing shuffleboard. Kathleen also loved quilting and ice cream and cherished time spent with her family.

Kathleen married Harold Prescott on September 15, 1944. He preceded her in death on October 15, 1988. She later married Paul Medsker on June 10, 1995, and he passed away on October 21, 2011.

Her children: Sharon Wright (husband Lloyd) – Portland, Indiana

Becky Lowe (husband Grant) – Greenfield, Indiana

1 brother: Clarence Greaf (wife Carol) – Knoxville, Tennessee

Grandchildren: Holly (Shane) Pryor, Andy (Rita) Wright and Cathy (Rex) Pinkerton all of Portland, Amy (Daniel) Sidebottom of Morristown and Eric (Christi) Lowe of Noblesville.

Great grandchildren: Evan Moore, Maggie and Simon Pryor, AJ, Landon and Lilly Wright, Gabe Pinkerton, Mayson Sidebottom, Adalyn and Avery Lowe and Jakob Lawrence

She was preceded in death by 3 children, Harold Eugene Prescott, Larry Prescott and Catherine Prescott.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Pastor Gil Alicea will officiate and burial will follow at Salamonia Cemetery in Salamonia, Indiana.
