Kyle Buckner, age 80, a former resident of Dunkirk, Indiana and a current resident of Southgate, Michigan passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital in Wyandotte, Michigan.

Kyle was born on October 4, 1933, in White Lake, Wisconsin, the son of Ernest and Irene (McCormick) Buckner.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving during the Korean Conflict.   Kyle worked for Armstrong Glass in Dunkirk, Indiana and owned and operated the Town and Country Store at the intersection of 67 and 200 S., in Portland. He then worked for Volkswagon in Charleston, West Virginia and retired from Ford Motor Company‘s Woodhaven Stamping Plant in Woodhaven, Michigan.  He was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Ruth Owens.

Survivors include:

2 sons:  Richard “Sonny” Buckner (wife Sandra) – Dunkirk, Indiana

Kevin Buckner (wife Bridgette) – Sylmar, California

2 daughters:  Karen Buckner – Indianapolis, Indiana

Kylea Lewis (husband Greg) – Morehead, Kentucky

2 brothers:  Jim Buckner (wife Rita) – Scottsdale, Arizona

Lyle Buckner (wife Mary) – Dunkirk, Indiana

1 sister:  Cindy Quirk (husband Mike) – Muncie, Indiana

5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland, Indiana.  A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland with Pastor Hugh Kelly officiating.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Czopek Funeral Directors in Wyandotte, Michigan.  Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. at Czopek Funeral Directors in Wyandotte.  Entombment will be on Friday at 9 a.m. in the Christian Memorial Cemetery in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
