Leanne K. Bowen

Leanne K. Bowen, age 45, a rural Dunkirk resident passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was a former Portland resident and a 1987 graduate of Jay County High School. She earned Bachelor degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology from Ball State University in 1992 and received a degree in nursing from Ivy Tech in 2003. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie and a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dunkirk. An avid runner, she participated in several 5k runs and completed the Mini Marathon in Indianapolis.
Leanne Bowen was born October 14, 1968 in Union City, Indiana the daughter of Leo and Charlotte (Abel) Schwieterman. She was married June 28, 1997 to Rob Bowen.

Several nieces and nephews
Visitation will be held from 1-5pm Sunday in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. A rosary service will be conducted at 1pm Sunday.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10am Monday in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portland with Father Bob Moran officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery in Portland.
