Letha Helen Bailey

Letha Helen Bailey, age 90, a resident of Portland, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Millers Merry Manor in Dunkirk. She was the widow of former Portland Mayor Vaughn Bailey.

Letha was born on September 16, 1922, in Portland, Indiana the daughter of Frank and Ethel (Rines) Thomas. She worked at Jay County Hospital for 27 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Portland. Letha married Vaughn Bailey on March 1, 1947 and he passed away on May 24, 1993.

Survivors include:

3 daughters: Nancy Jo Laux (husband Larry) - Berne, Indiana.
Pamela K. Sewell (husband Dave) - rural Portland, Indiana
Jodee L. Borgerding (FiancAC. Dennis Roush) - Portland, Indiana

1 son: Thomas V. Bailey (wife Jayne) - Frankfort, Kentucky

13 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren

Tricia Walter, the fiancAC.e of the late George Bailey, the son of Letha Bailey

She was preceded in death by one son, George Bailey

Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland and on Tuesday one hour prior to the service.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Pastor Wayne Ward will officiate and burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery in Portland.

Memorials may be directed towards Millers Merry Manor Activity Fund or Cornerstone Baptist Church.
