Lloyd Gene Knittle, age 80, a resident of Portland passed away, Saturday, December 7, 2024 at his home in Portland.
Lloyd was born February 3, 1944 in Decatur, Indiana, the son of Dale Knittle and Mildred Miller. Lloyd graduated from Adams Central High School in 1962 and served in the United States Air Force. Lloyd was a member of Westchester Church for over 50 years. He retired from the Portland Forge after 31 years in 1995 and Franklin Electric Bluffton in 2005. Lloyd was an avid collector and known by everyone in the community.
Lloyd married Susan Hartnagel on October 23, 1964.

Brett Knittle (wife Teresa) – Oldenburg, Indiana
5 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren
His loyal companion: Scout
Sister: Mary Sheets – Berne, Indiana
He was preceded in death by a great granddaughter Jane Byard, 3 brothers Richard, Jerry and Allen Knittle and a sister Emily Hart.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Westchester Church at 4487 E. 400 N. Portland, Indiana with visitation an hour before the service. Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery west of Bryant. Military rites will be conducted by the Portland American Legion Post 211.
Memorials may be directed to the Jay County Heart Fund, Jay County Cancer Society, or Stillwater Hospice.
