Marilyn Smith

Marilyn J. Smith, age 93, a resident of Portland, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at IU Health Jay in Portland.

Marilyn was born April 20, 1931, in rural Ridgeville, the daughter of Virgil and Ina (Bourke) Platt.  She was a member of the Ladies of the Moose in Portland and enjoyed playing bingo.  Marilyn married Williard Smith on December 6, 1952 and he passed away on March 2, 2002.

Survivors include:

1 son:  Terry Smith – Portland, Indiana

Her companion:  Frank Hogle – Portland, Indiana

2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by 2 children, Ronnie Smith and Pamela Dennis and 1 grandchild, Shane Dennis.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025 at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland.  Burial will follow at Green Park Cemetery in Portland.

Memorials may be directed towards the Jay County Cancer Society or Jay County Heart Fund.
