Martha Pearl Denney

February 3, 2014 — September 3, 2014

In the afternoon of September 3rd, 2014 Martha Pearl Garrett Denney passed away peacefully of natural causes at Cox Medical Center in Branson, Missouri. She was surrounded by family, friends and loved ones from the Point Lookout Nursing Home. Martha Pearl was born on February 2nd, 1930 in Ohio to Clara (Little) Stultz and was adopted by Robert Stultz. She was married to late husband Joe Garrett and they lived and raised their three children David Garrett, Bob Garrett, and Mona Mae (Garrett) Conner in Penneville, Indiana. After Joe’s passing, she married her late husband Charles (Pap) Denney and they moved to Lead Hill Arkansas. While living in Indiana she worked as a cabinet finisher and took pride in raising her children, attending all sporting events, music programs, and spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed sponsoring dances at the Grange Hall for the kids in Pennville. She moved to Arkansas in 1969 where her and Charles owned and operated Denney’s lazy Woods Motel and Cafe. After retiring from the motel business they traveled the United States for work and play. Martha Pearl took pride in treating everyone as family and always opened her doors to family, friends and anyone who needed a place to stay. When all of her family came to visit the popular phrase around their house was “Grab a cot and find a spot.” She loved to dance, make and drink milkshakes, and was always a shining light with friends and family. She was known by her grandchildren for her famous cheesy eggs and her wonderful Christmas gifts of homemade noodles that she made for all of her family and neighbors. She remained active in her church and faith until the very end. Martha Pearl is survived by her four children David Garrett; Bob Garrett; Mona Mae (Garrett) Conner and Ron and wife Bobbie Denney. Her three sisters Wanda McEwen; Phyllis Ann Ford; and Betty Jo Armstrong. Her 8 grandchildren Brett and Mike McBride; Branda and Jason Musselman; Cody and Cayla Conner; Mica Conner; Kris and Andi Denney; Kelly and Michelle Denney; Bart and Mindy Kelley; and Sunny (Kelley) Schmidt. She is also survived by 17 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones in both Indiana and Arkansas. Family and friends are welcomed to celebrate the life and memory of Martha Pearl on Wednesday, September 10th from 4 to 8 pm. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, September 11th. All services will be held at the Williamson, Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Pennville, Indiana.
