Mary A Harrod
October 23, 1922 — July 18, 2013
Mary A. Harrod, age 90, a Portland resident, passed away Thursday evening, July 18, 2013 at Persimmon Ridge Rehabilitation Centre in Portland. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and active in the Wesleyan Circle at the church. She was a member of the Jay Co. Hospital Auxillary and Tri Kappa Sorority in Portland. She graduated in 1943 from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Indianapolis. She worked as a registered nurse for 30 years at Jay County Hospital retiring in 1985.
Mary Harrod was born October 23, 1922 in Brownstown, Indiana the daughter of Elmer and Ina (Hamilton) Kestner. She was married on August 26, 1945 to Dale Harrod who passed away on January 17, 2008. She also had two sons preceed her in death, Richard and Gregory.
Survivors Include:
1 Sister- Margaret Brewer, Bloomington, Indiana
Several nieces and nephews including Jim Sweet, Carmel, Indiana
Visitation will be held from 9am-11am Tuesday at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Portland.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Tuesday at Asbury United Methodist Church. Pastor Mark Strietelmeier will officiate and private graveside services will be held later at Brownstown Cemetery, Brownstown, Indiana.
