Mary Helen Morehous, age 84, a resident of rural Portland, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Persimmon Ridge in Portland.
Mary Helen was born on September 14, 1928, in Jay County, the daughter of Lester "L.D." and Blanche F. (Hough) Morehous. Mary Helen graduated from Portland High School in 1946. She worked at Morris 5&10 in Portland for 4 years and G.C. Murphy's in Portland for 40 years. She was a member of the Bellefountaine United Methodist Church where served as a song leader, treasurer and was active with the Ladies Aide. She was also a member of the Jay County Hospital Auxiliary.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Burial will follow in the Salamonia Cemetery in Salamonia, Indiana.
