Melissa (Fifer) Campofiore

June 17, 1986 — December 9, 2016

Melissa Campofiore, age 30, a resident of rural Portland, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Melissa was born on June 17, 1986, in Coldwater, Ohio, the daughter of Larry and Sharon (Huelskamp) Fifer.  She graduated from Jay County High School in 2005 and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps, being deploying to Iraq in 2007. Melissa was continuing her service to our country by serving in the U.S. Army reserves. She worked as a cook for Bloomfield Elementary School and was continuing her service to fellow veterans by working at the Jay County Veterans Service Office.  She attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church and was a member of the American Legion Post #211 of Portland.  Melissa married Anthony Campofiore on May 6, 2008.

Her father:  Larry Fifer – rural Bryant, Indiana

Her grandmother:  Maria Fifer – Bryant, Indiana

1 sister:  Carrie Byrum (husband Paul) – Portland, Indiana

3 brothers:  Ryan Fifer (wife Amber) – Portland, Indiana

Chad Fifer (wife Cindy) – Portland, Indiana

Craig Fifer (companion Kristin Rines) – Portland, Indiana

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. and from 10-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.  A scripture service will start at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, east of Bryant.  Father David Hoying will officiate and burial will follow in the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery.  The U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard and American Legion Post #211 of Portland will conduct military graveside rites.

Memorials may be directed towards Melissa’s children in care of Anthony Campofiore
