Michael Roop

Michael Roop, age 68, a resident of Montpelier, Indiana, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2026 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

Michael was born January 25, 1958, in Norfolk, Virginia, the son of Lawrence and Carolee (Loudin) Roop. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1979 – 1983. He worked at Berne Furniture in Berne, Indiana and attended Faith Chapel in Decatur. Michael married Sheila (Coffman) Bemis on February 11, 2005.

Isaac Roop (Fiancé Alexis Hawkins) – Decatur, Indiana

His step-children: Christy Gross (husband Calvin) – St. Marys, Ohio

Jason Bemis (wife Brianna) – Dunkirk, Indiana

Preston Bemis (wife Lindsey) – Monroe, Indiana

His siblings: Jeff Roop (wife Sandy) – Geneva, Indiana

Karen Thowsen (husband Tom) – Hendersonville, Nevada

His Niece and Nephew: Chelsea Neal and Doug Roop

Several grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Carolee Roop and a daughter, Jessica Roop.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 from 5-6 p.m. at Faith Chapel, 3928 N. Salem Road, Decatur, Indiana. Services to celebrate Michael’s life will follow at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed towards the family in care of Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
