Mildred “Skippy” Smith, age 87 a Portland resident passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Persimmon Ridge Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #91 in Portland for over 50 years and a member of the White Shrine. She was a volunteer with the Jay County Hospital Auxiliary.
Mildred Smith was born August 12, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of Ira and Madge (Letts) Beard.
Survivors Include:
2 Sons- Michael Smith (wife-Darlene), Hendersonville, Tennessee
Jack Smith, Indianapolis, Indiana
2 Daughters- Charlotte Hidy (husband-Dale), Pennville, Indiana
Patricia Sunrise, Portland, Indiana
4 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandson
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Thursday in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Visitation will be held from 11am-2pm on Thursday prior to the services. Rev. Stephen Hundley will officiate the services and burial will follow in the IOOF Twin Hills Cemetery in Pennville.
