Nilah A. Flesher, age 87, a former resident of Jackson Township in rural Portland, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Persimmon Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Portland.
Nilah was born on January 22, 1927, in Portland, Indiana, the daughter of Norman J. and Mono L. (Campbell) Stoner. She graduated from Portland High School in 1945, was a homemaker and partner in the family farm. She retired from the Jay School Corporation Food Service working as a Cook at Bloomfield Elementary and the high school. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Wesleyan Circle and the Homemakers Sunday School class. She was also a member of the Portland Evening Optimist Club. She received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Cincinnatus League in Portland. She was married to Robert Flesher on November 22, 1947 and he passed away November 9, 2001.

3 Daughters: Janet Wagner (husband James) – Portland, Indiana
Barbara Street (husband Gary) – rural Portland, Indiana
Ruth Flesher-Mohr – rural Kokomo, Indiana
1 Son: John Flesher (wife Caryl) – rural Roann, Indiana
1 Sister- Bernice McClurg (husband-Max), Portland, Indiana
9 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her brother- Gerald Stoner, and a sister- Vivian Lewis
Visitation will be held from 12:30pm- 3:30pm Saturday in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30pm Saturday in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Tom Lightle will officiate the services and burial will follow in the Salamonia Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Asbury United Methodist Church- Homemakers Class, State of the Heart Hospice, or The Hospice Group.
