Pauline K. (Huey) Gettinger, age 85, a resident of Portland, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014, at her home in Portland. She was born on December 12, 1928 in Jay County, Indiana.
She was the daughter of Edward and Blanche (Ford) Huey. Pauline graduated from Bryant High School in 1946 and later married William Gettinger in 1947. They resided in Bryant, Indiana, for 40 years before moving to Portland. Pauline retired from the Jay Garment Factory after working there for 35 years including supervisor of the Oven Department at the North Plant. She was a very good seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, making afghans, doilies, tablecloths and various craft items. She was also a very good cook and baker. Pauline and her husband enjoyed traveling and spending time at their home in Winter Haven, Florida. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Wesleyan Circle, Order of the Eastern Star for 50 years, The Women’s Past Patrons and the Jay County Hospital Auxiliary.
Pauline is survived by her husband, William Gettinger, of Portland; her two daughters, Darlene (Mackie) Melson of Osceola, IN and Cheryl (Karl) Dunst of Berlin, NJ; three granddaughters, Alicia (Greg) Fazzie of Marlton, NJ, Natalie (Gary) Hopkins of Langhorne, PA, Kristin (Joe) Young, of N. Wales, PA; seven great grandchildren, Zachary, Emily and Owen Fazzie, Cole and Sabrina Hopkins, Chase and Tyler Young; two step-grandchildren, Hollie Melson and Nicholas (Anne) Melson; five step-great grandchildren, Ray, Jaron and Davone McKinstry, Josephine and Atlas Melson; two sisters, Judy Smith of Bryant, IN and Nancy (Bill) Stults of Anderson, IN; one brother, Edward Huey, Jr. of Decatur, IN; three sister-in-laws, Wanda (Al) Brochin, Dixie Amstutz and Sharon Huey; one brother-in-law, Jack (Susie) Gettinger.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur Huey, Virgil Huey and Kenneth Huey.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Tom Lightle will officiate and burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, southeast of Portland on the Jay/Randolph County Line.
Memorials contributions may be given to State of the Heart Hospice of Portland or Asbury United Methodist Church.
