Richard Martin
July 2, 1943 — January 20, 2015
Richard A.“Dick” Martin, age 71, a rural Wayne Twp. Jay County resident passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Chalet Village Rehabilitation Center in Berne. He was a 1961 graduate of Portland High School. He retired from the U. S. Navy after 21 years. He served his country in Vietnam and the Cuban missile crisis. He was an avid hunter and Colts fan.
Richard “Dick” Martin was born July 2, 1943 in Portland, Indiana the son of Fred and Edwina (Bright) Martin. He was married to Irene Conoscienti on February 23, 1969.

Beloved wife- Irene Martin, rural Portland, Indiana
1 Brother- Mike Martin (wife-Susie), Portland, Indiana
1 Sister in law- Joyce Martin
Several Nieces and nephews
Dick had two long time military friends- Jimmy Deen (wife-Trisha), Daphnie, Alabama and
Gary Major (wife- Rita), Zion, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Fred and Donald Martin
Visitation will be held from 1:30-3:30pm on Friday in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30pm Friday in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Pastor Hugh Kelly will officiate the services and burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery. Portland American Legion Post 211 will be in charge of military rites at the cemetery.
