Born on January 28, 1958, in Corvallis, Oregon, Roger Mills was the fourth and youngest child of Clarence Eugene “Gene” Mills and Joy A. Johnson Mills. He attended school in Corvallis, including Crescent Valley High School. After high school he worked for eleven years at Hewlett-Packard in their Production and Facilities Departments. In 1989 he married his wife, Tammy. They moved to the Ridgeville/Portland, Indiana area.
Due to a tragic set of circumstances, Roger lost both of his legs in January of 2003. Due to his disability, he had since resided in nursing homes until the time of his death; the most recent facility being Union City Care Center in Union City, Ohio. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at UCCC for their loving care for Roger.
Having confessed his faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior as a youth, Roger had recently recommitted his life to Christ and was attending River of Life Church in Portland, Indiana.
Preceded in death by his father, Gene Mills, Roger is survived by his mother, Joy Mills, Corvallis, OR; his ex-wife, Tammy Mills, Portland, IN; son, Joseph D. Mills (Sarah), Portland, IN; step-daughter, Jessica Guthrie, Portland, IN; step-son, Zachary Gillespie, Dunkirk, IN; sister, Janet Mills Koolhaas (Case), Atlanta, GA; brother, John H. Mills (Vicki), Wilsonville, OR; brother, Paul E. Mills, Lynnwood, WA; and several grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Visitation from Noon-1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28 at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Burial will follow at the Lawndale Cemetery, east of Ridgeville, IN. Officiating Pastor: Paula Hunnicutt, River of Life Church, Portland, IN.
