Rosalie Songer

Rosalie Songer, age 77,  a resident of Pike Township in rural Portland, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Jay County Hospital in Portland.

Rosalie was born on August 22, 1938 in Gallagher, West Virginia, the daughter of Dan Hughes and Dona (Gayheart) Hughes-Roode.  She married Frank Songer on September 22, 1964 and he passed away on January 12, 1988.

Her mother:  Dona Roode – Gallagher, West Virginia

2 sons: Sam Songer (wife Bonnie Jo) – Davenport, Florida

Robert Songer (wife Nickie) – Portland, Indiana

1 daughter:  Rhonda Clubs (companion Russ Hodge) – Portland, Indiana

Step children:

Don Songer (wife Norma) – Gaston, Indiana

Johnny Songer (wife Kris) – Bloomington, Indiana

Lois Christian (husband Harold) – Dunkirk, Indiana

Ruth Tomey (husband Wayne) – Farmland, Indiana

Burma Massengale – Dunkirk, Indiana

Cathy Fancil (husband Jim) – Dunkirk, Indiana

2 brothers:  Roy Roode – Detroit, Michigan

Timothy Roode – Gallagher, West Virginia

1 sister:  Norma Songer – Gaston, Indiana

Several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her father, Dan Hughes, her step-father, Okey C. Roode, her husband Frank Songer, a sister, Sandy Pack and step children, Larry Songer, Gerald Songer, Emogene Dent-Overstreet and Laura Mae Adams.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.  Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery, north of Muncie.
