Roy C. Reed
December 23, 1928 — July 23, 2013
Roy C. Reed, age 84, a resident of Greene Twp., Jay County passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Persimmon Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Portland. He drove a school bus for Fleming Co., Kentucky schools for 10 years and also farmed and worked for Sloan's Paint and Construction for many years. He was a member of the Christian Holiness Church, Flemingsburg, Ky and attended Walnut Corner Church in Jay County. He was a member of the Tri State Gas Engine and Tractor Association.
He was born in Nisi, Kentucky on December 23, 1928 the son of Charley and Zetta (Humphries) Reed.
He was married May 25, 1949 to Helena Gray and she passed away on August 24, 2012.
Survivors Include:
1 Daughter- Bessie Hummel (husband-Greg), Portland, Indiana
2 Grandchildren Gene Hummel and Charity Pearson
6 Great Grandchildren Caleb Hummel, Radney Pearson, Levi Hummel, Brandt Pearson, Noah Hummel and Leah Hummel.
Several nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday at the Walnut Corner Church. Rev. Steve Rogers and Pastor Herb Hummel will officiate the services and burial will follow at Liber Cemetery, south of Portland.
Visitation will be held from 2:00pm-6:00pm on Friday at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
