Ruth Ann Degler

Ruth Ann Degler, age 78, a resident of Portland, passed away Wednesday March 4, 2020 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

Ruth was born July 3, 1941, in Jay County, Indiana the daughter of Marvin and Elsie (Worth) Bickel. She was a graduate of Poling High School and retired from CTS in Berne after 40 years. Ruth attended Asbury United Methodist Church in Portland.  She enjoyed painting, quilting, working with stained glass and playing shuffleboard and Dominoes. Ruth married Terry Degler on December 10, 1961.

Her husband of 58 years: Terry Degler – Portland, Indiana

2 sons:  Jeff Degler (wife Cheryl) – Churubusco, Indiana

Kevin Degler (wife Denise) – Portland, Indiana

2 sisters: Marjorie Johnson (husband James) – Portland, Indiana

Marilyn Boyce (husband Don) – Geneva, Indiana

3 brothers: Lester Bickel (wife Julia) – Huntington, Indiana

Larry Bickel – Portland, Indiana

Donald Bickel (wife Donna) – Ridgeville, Indiana

Sister-in-law:  Elaine Bickel – Portland, Indiana

7 Grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by a brother Keith Bickel.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2:00pm – 7:00pm at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland and 1 hour prior to the service on Sunday. Services will be held on Sunday at 2:00pm at the funeral home. Pastor Allison Yankey will officiate the services. Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery, west of Bryant.
