Shirley Huey

Shirley Huey, age 79, a resident of Portland, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Parkview North Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Shirley was born on November 10, 1938, in Ullin, Illinois the daughter of Wilbur and Erma (Poole) Richards.  She worked for FCC in Portland for 15 years, retiring in 2005.  She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Portland.  Shirley married Ralph James Huey on October 21, 1995.

4 daughters:  Theresa Maze (husband Dennis) – Cobden, IL

Barbara Cowin (husband Roger) – Richmond, Indiana

Mendy Chamness (husband Kenneth) – Lynn, Indiana

Pamela Straley (husband David) – Geneva, Indiana

2 sons:  Stanley Peeler (wife Pam) – Anna, IL

Richard Huey (wife Connie) – North Carolina

4 sisters:  Betty Mowery (husband Delno) – Anna, IL

Gloria Jerrell – Buncombe, IL

Kathy Trexler (husband Gary) – Tennessee

Lori Tite (husband Rodney) – Ullin, IL

5 grandchildren and several great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Erma Richards, grandchildren, Brandy Wiseman and Shannon Johnson, great grandson, Quinton Wolfal, sister Delores Miller, brother, Bud Richards and brother-in-law, Jack Jerrell.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Portland.  Visitation will also be held on Monday from 10 a.m. – 12 noon on Monday at Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 12 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.  Pastor Jason Rice will officiate and burial will follow in the Center Cemetery, west of Portland.
