Shirley D. Pavey

Shirley D. Pavey, age 71, a resident of Portland, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at St. Joe Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Shirley was born on July 24, 1944, in Portland, Indiana, the daughter of Wayne and Mary (Michaels) Witsche.  She attended Portland High School and earned an Associate Degree in Restaurant Management from Vincennes University.  She worked for Jay Garment in Portland for several years and was a member of the Mount Hope Church in Berne, Indiana.  She married Harry Franks on February 2, 1961 and he passed away in 1970.

7 daughters:  Cathy Bruss (husband Dennis) – Salamonia, Indiana

Janet Perez – Bluffton, Indiana

Donna Eley (husband Dan) – Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Peggy Cain (husband Scott) – Tucson, Arizona

Jean Gutkrecht – Houston, Texas

Michelle Roser – Berne, Indiana

Melissa Brown (husband Brian) – Portland, Indiana

3 sons:  Dean Franks – Hartford City, Indiana

Phillip Pavey II – Portland, Indiana

Matthew Pavey (wife Krystal) – Lafayette, Indiana

1 sister:  Edith McAbee – Portland, Indiana

Several grandchildren and several great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Teresa Franks-Shultz and Pamela Franks-Waters.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.  Pastor Dave McLellan will officiate and burial will follow in the Lawndale Cemetery, east of Ridgeville.

Memorials may be directed towards the Jay County Cancer Society.
