Ted Fleming

Ted C. Fleming, age 99, a resident of Portland, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2012, at Crown Pointe in Portland.

Ted was born on October 23, 1913, in Portland, Indiana, the son of Carl and Hazel May (Harman) Fleming. He graduated from Portland High School in 1931 and attended DePauw University. Ted worked for Sheller Globe in Portland and Jay County Abstract. Ted was a member of the West Walnut Street Church of Christ in Portland, Masonic Lodge of Portland, Scottish Rite, Mizpah Shrine and the White Shrine of Muncie. He was also a member of the Eastern Star and Jay County Hospital Auxiliary. Ted was a well-known singer throughout Jay County where he sang in Lodges, Nursing Homes and churches. Ted was inducted into the Jay County Hall of Fame in 1995.

Survivors include several cousins.

Visitation for Ted Fleming will be held on Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. A Masonic service will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the West Walnut Street Church of Christ in Portland. Pastor Jim Nichols will officiate and burial will follow in Green Park Cemetery in Portland.

Memorials may be directed towards the West Walnut Street Church of Christ or the Portland Foundation.
