Timothy "Tim" Smith

Timothy “Tim” Smith, age 75, a resident of Portland, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

Tim was born March 15, 1951, in Celina, Ohio, the son of Robert W. and Mary Anna (Harden) Smith. He graduated from Portland High School in 1969 and worked for Portland Forge, retiring in 2014. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard. Tim married Lanae Lehman on March 22, 1975.

His children: Mandy Vance (husband Benn) – Indianapolis, Indiana

Andrea Thornsberry (husband Ben) – Eaton, Ohio

1 granddaughter: Grace Olivia Thornsberry

His siblings: Gary Smith (wife Judith) – Portland, Indiana

Robert W. Smith, Jr. (wife Linda) – Portland, Indiana

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026 from 1-2 p.m. at Bellefountain United Methodist Church, 440 S. 600 E., Portland, Indiana. Services to celebrate Tim’s life will follow at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the church. 

Memorials may be directed towards the Bellefountain United Methodist Church.
