Tom W. Bailey

Tom W. Bailey, age 72, a resident of Noble Township, Jay County, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013 at his home.

Tom was born on March 22, 1941, in Noble Township, Jay County, the son of Ray W. and Mary L. (Harmon) Bailey.  He graduated from Portland High School in 1959.  He married Jane Sibery on November 26, 1966.  Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

He farmed in Noble Township, Jay County for many years and worked for Sheller Globe in Portland, Portland Forge and New Idea in Coldwater, Ohio.

Tom served as a board member of the Jay County Conservation Club for over 30 years and served as a board member of the Jay County Fair Association.  He was a member of the D.A.V., Masonic Lodge of Portland, Portland American Legion Post #211 where served on the honor guard, Salamonia Volunteer Fire Department, ASCS Board, Fort Recovery Gun Club and 4-H Shooting Sports.

1 son:  Brian Bailey (wife Jenni) – rural Portland, Indiana

1 daughter:  Barbara Isenburg – Dunkirk, Indiana

2 sisters:  Shirley Ramey (husband Dick) – Portland, Indiana

Vickie Gettinger (husband Arlo) – Portland, Indiana

2 granddaughters

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 3-7 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.  A Masonic service will be held on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.  Pastor Darrel Borders will officiate and burial will follow in the Salamonia Cemetery in Salamonia, Indiana.  The Portland American Legion Post #211 will conduct military graveside rites.

Memorials may be directed towards the Jay County Cancer society or the donor’s choice.
