Verl D. Williamson, age 87, a rural Portland resident passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Portland. He retired as a Funeral Director with the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home where he worked in the family business for over 60 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Portland Odd Fellows Lodge, Museum of the Soldier, Indiana Funeral Directors Association, and the National Funeral Directors Association. He was a 1949 graduate of Portland High School. He also was a graduate of the Indiana College of Mortuary Science in Indianapolis.
Verl Williamson was born January 16, 1929 in Portland, Indiana the son of Darwin and Alta (Orr) Williamson.

2 Brothers-Leoris Williamson (wife- Betty), Portland, Indiana
Darrel Williamson (wife- Faye), Portland, Indiana
1 Sister in law- June Marie Williamson, Portland, Indiana
Several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by two brothers- Bill and Hamor Williamson
Visitation will be held from 3-7pm Tuesday in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Jason Rice officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery in Portland.
Memorials may directed to the Museum of the Soldier or the Mary Helen Strohl Scholorship fund with Trinity United Methodist Church.
