Virgil Rice

June 2, 1937 — October 28, 2016

Reverend Virgil H. Rice, age 79, a former resident of Redkey, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Swiss Village in Berne, Indiana.

Virgil was born on June 2, 1937, in Holmes Mill, Kentucky, the son of Banner and Pearl (McKnight) Rice.  He was ordained in 1984 as a minister with the American Association of Pentecostal Pastors and served at the Graften Street Baptist Church in Muncie for 6 years. Virgil was a member of the Albany Bethel United Methodist Church.  He worked for Indiana Glass in Dunkirk and retired after 30 years of service.  He married Earlene (Blanton) and she passed away on October 28, 2010.

Survivors include:

2 sons:

Tracey Rice (wife Milly) – Parker City, Indiana

Jason Rice (wife Vicki) – Mentone, Indiana

6 grandchildren:  Joshua Rice, Jolene Fair Rice, Justin Rice, Zachery Eyanson, Dalton Eyanson and Raistlin Rice

9 great grandchildren

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.  Pastor Randy Davis and Frank Oakman will officiate and burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, south of Redkey.
