William "Bill" Lightner

William “Bill” Lightner, age 64, a resident of Muncie, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital Muncie.  He was a former resident of Dunkirk.

Bill was born April 23, 1959, in Hartford City, Indiana, the son of William R. and Joyce Ann (Burnette) Lightner-Wells.  He graduated from Jay County High School and earned a degree in Funeral Service from Vincennes University.  Bill formally owned and operated Thornburg-Lightner Funeral Home in Parker City, Lightner Funeral Home in Lynn, Lightner Funeral Home in Dunkirk and Lightner Funeral Home in Union City.  He also worked at Jay County EMS, was an airplane pilot, and worked in  Bowling Promotions and for Universal Associates.  He was a member of Union Chapel Church in Muncie and a member of the Masonic Lodge and Fort Wayne Scottish Rite.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. at Union Chapel Church, 4622 N. Broadway Avenue, Muncie, Indiana.  Memorial services will follow at 4 p.m. on Monday at the church.
