On Thursday evening, September 28, 2023, Battle Mountain resident, Bobinell Long passed away peacefully with family by her side. Bobi, as she was affectionately known, was born in Grants, New Mexico, in 1934 during the midst of the Great Depression.
The economic turmoil of the times led her family to settle in Northern California. There, she attended school, married, had 6 children, worked, thrived and raised a family.
She enjoyed music, dancing, gardening, being outdoors and reading throughout her life.
Although her body was failing, Bobi remained mentally sharp, and she continued to enjoy literature and adventures through audiobooks right up to her passing.
Eventually, Bobi moved to Battle Mountain, Nevada, in 2015 where she enjoyed the warm sunny weather the remainder of her life.
Bobi was 88 years old, and is survived by her beloved sister in Arizona, her children who live throughout the United States, 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. Local survivors include her son, Norman Peterson of Portland and a granddaughter Leeann Jones of Deerfield.
The family would like to thank Battle Mountain General Hospital Long Term Care Center and staff for their supportive care of our mother.
Memorial Services was held at Sonoma Funeral Home in Winnemucca, Nevada, on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 with private burial at a later date.
