Deloris "Jean" Brown

     Deloris “Jean” Brown, age 90, a resident of rural Pennville, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at the Waters Nursing Home in Hartford City. 

     Jean was born on December 19, 1932, in Albany, Indiana, to the late Don and Dorothy (Ford) Geiger.  She married Charles I. Brown on March 26, 1954, who preceded her in death in January, 1989.

     Jean retired from Corning Glass in Bluffton in 1984.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, tending to her flowers, homemaking and caring for her pets. 

     Jean is survived by her brother Robert Geiger of Dunkirk, Indiana.  Jean is also survived by her children Connie Ferguson of Portland, Indiana Cynthia Naylor (husband Bruce) of Decatur, Indiana, Charles I. (Teresa) Brown, Jr. of Pennville, Indiana and Dean Brown of Pennville, Indiana, son-in-law Bruce Wygant. 

     Jean was preceded in death by her parents Don and Dorothy Geiger, her husband Charles I. Brown, brothers Harold Geiger, Bill Geiger, Leroy Geiger and sisters Shirley Mills, Marie Gillespie, Winifred Atkins and a daughter Genova Stephens.

     Jean also has 10 grandchildren, Lisa Curtis (deceased), Lorie Gregory, Allen Ferguson, Dennis Wygant (deceased), Julie Wygant, Brian Wygant, Jason Brown, Ramie Brown, Mindy Coates and Shauna Figert.  Jean also was a great grandmother to 30 children and many great-great grandchildren.  She will truly be missed. 

     Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. – 12 noon at the Pennville Chapel of Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 12 noon on Thursday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at IOOF Twin Hill Cemetery in Pennville.
