James Grady

February 12, 1929 ~ November 3, 2016 (age 87) 87 Years Old

      James Grady, age 87 a resident of Redkey, passed away Thursday ,November 3, 2016 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.  He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dunkirk.  He was a 1948 graduate of Redkey High School.  He retired after 40 years with Norfolk Southern Railroad.  He was a 50 year member of the Redkey Lions Club.  He was a member of the Redkey Alumni Association, Redkey Christmas Food Basket Committee, and the Jay County Genealogical Sociey. He was a US Army Veteran and served during the Korean Conflict.

     James Grady was born February 12, 1929 in Redkey, Indiana the son of Patrick and Doris (May) Grady.  He was married August 11, 1956 to Ann Gillespie.

4 Sons- Brian Grady (wife-Char), Redkey

              Bruce Grady(wife-Marla), Redkey

              Brad Grady( wife-Amy), Redkey

              Michael Grady, Redkey

7 Daughters-  Colleen Bicknell (husband-Bob), Redkey

                         Maureen Miller (husband-Terry), Redkey

                         Kathleen Skiver (husband-Dennis), Redkey

                         Loreen Wolford (husband-Todd), Brownsburg, IN.

                         Sara Kolodka(husband-Ted), Redkey

                         Amy Blakely (husband-Phil), Redkey

                         Heather Waldo(husband-Bryan), Pottsboro, TX.

2 Sisters in law- Bea Grady, Farmington NM. and Carol Grady, Fishers, IN.

Several nieces and nephews

23 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren

He was preceded in death by a daughter- Sara Ann Grady

     Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00am Saturday in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 346 S. Broad St., Dunkirk, Indiana.  Father David Newton will officiate the services.

     Private graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Redkey.  Portland American Legion Post 211 will be in charge of military graveside rites at the cemetery.
