Janet Guntle

     Janet Guntle, age 88, a resident of Portland, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Persimmon Ridge in Portland. 

     Janet was born on August 19, 1935, in Adams County, Indiana, the daughter of John and Lois (McGriff) Hoskins.  She graduated from Bryant High School in 1953 and worked as a teachers aid for Jay School Corporation from 1971-1998.  She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Portland.  Janet married Robert “Bob” Guntle on November 7, 1953 and he passed away on April 28, 2023. 

            Survivors include:

            Her children:  Robert “Bob” Guntle – Portland, Indiana

                                    Sandy Atienzo – Portland, Indiana

                                    Mary Beth Kauffman (husband Rick) – Selma, Indiana

            2 sisters:  Nadine Towell – Berne, Indiana

                             Karen Powell – Geneva, Indiana

            13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren

     She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Guntle and 2 daughters, Jana Claycomb and Carol Guntle. 

     Graveside services will be held in the chapel at Gravel Hill Cemetery, west of Bryant on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Hugh Kelly officiating. 

     Memorials may be directed towards the American Parkinson Disease Association.
