JoAnn Adcock, age 85, a resident of rural Portland, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at her home in rural Portland.
JoAnn was born on February 7, 1935, in Portland, Indiana, the daughter of Orville and Gladys (Smiley) Miller. JoAnn married Lloyd “Joe” Adcock on November 22, 1952.
JoAnn worked for Jay School Corporation as an Aide and Cook at General Shanks and retired as a Cook from Jay County High School in 2000. JoAnn was a member of Praise Chapel Church of God where she was very active, serving in any capacity needed at the church. She enjoyed singing with all of her children. She was a member of the Adcock Trio with her sons and the Ladies Chaplets Quartet with her friends.

Her husband of 67 years: Lloyd “Joe” Edward Adcock – rural Portland
3 sons: David Adcock (wife Colleen) – Arcadia
Terry Adcock (wife Colleen) – Westfield
Mike Adcock (wife Nancy) – Fishers
2 daughters: Sherlyn Rensberger (husband Robb) – Wabash
Carla Day – Portland
10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Miller
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020, from 9 – 11 a.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. A service to celebrate JoAnn’s life will follow at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at New Pittsburg Cemetery on the Jay/Randolph County Line.
