Kate Smith

     Kate Smith, age 27, a resident of Pennville, passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at her home. 

     Kate was born on December 11, 1994 in Portland, the daughter of Eric Smith and Angie Smiley.  She graduated from Jay County High School in 2012.  Kate loved animals and volunteered at the Jay County Humane Society.  She married Shelby Smith on August 8, 2017.

     She will always be the rarest and the most hardcore soul I’ve ever had the great honor to have in my life…she touched the hearts of all the lives she entered.  She was a healer…she made us all laugh…had the most amazing smile… a beautiful voice and the most beautifully awkward personality that we adored so much.  She was an amazing wife and she will always be loved and cherished.  She will remain in our hearts forever.  We love and miss you Kate, you will be imprinted in all our hearts forever.  Till our souls meet again.  We love you, Kate.

                             Kristen Locke – Winchester, Indiana

            1 brother:  Trevin Harrell – Portland, Indiana

            Several nieces and nephews

            Visitation will be held on Thursday from 12-2 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland.  Services to celebrate Kate’s life will follow at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
