Larry Lanning
Obituary
Larry Lanning, age 81, a resident of North Manchester, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at Peabody Nursing Home in North Manchester. He was a former resident of Portland and Goshen.
Larry was born on April 22, 1940, in Portland, Indiana, the son of Leon and Audrey (Miller) Lanning. He graduated from Portland High School in 1958 and served in the U.S. Air Force. Larry worked for Westinghouse in Muncie, Miller Jones Shoe Store in Goshen and Crown International in Elkhart. He was a member of Calvary Assembly of God in Elkhart.
Larry married Joyce Hittle on March 1, 1962 and she passed away on April 26, 2021.
Survivors include:
2 children: Greg Lanning (wife Mary) – Granger, Indiana
Lisa Hardman (husband Dan) – Frostproof, Florida
6 grandchildren: Tommy Beckwith, Kristi (Jesse) Miller, Audrey Lanning, Logan Beckwith, Brody (Brigette) Beckwith, Chloe Lanning and 10 great-grandchildren
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1-2 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Services to celebrate Larry’s life will follow at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery, west of Portland. American Legion Post #211 of Portland will conduct military graveside rites.
