Mabeline L. Barcus, age 82, a resident of rural Portland, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021 at her son’s home in rural Portland. She was a former resident of Pennville.
Mabeline was born on September 1, 1938, in Poneto, Indiana, the daughter of Gerald and Olive (Onweller) Bower. She graduated from Poling High School in 1956 and married Ken Barcus on September 27, 1957.
Mabeline was a member of Union Chapel church where she served as pianist for many years, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader and Choir Director. She retired from USDA Farm Service Agency in Portland in 1999 after 26 ½ years of service.

1 daughter: Tina O’Dell (husband Ron) – Pennville, Indiana
2 sons: Steve Barcus (wife Brenda) – rural Portland, Indiana
Kevin Barcus (wife Wanda) – rural Redkey, Indiana
1 sister: Marge Barger – Bluffton, Indiana
7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Union Chapel Church, 6200 N. 375 W., Bryant, Indiana 47326. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held in I.O.O.F. Twin Hill Cemetery in Pennville, Indiana.
