Nancy Marie Soots

Nancy Marie (Spencer) Soots, 92, Indianapolis, Indiana passed away November 14, 2020 with loving, caring family close by.

Nancy was born to the late Carlton and Ruth Spencer in Portland, Indiana.  She graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, and earned a teaching degree from Butler University.

She was married to the late Richard A. Soots who passed away in 1995 and is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Herbert and Joseph Spencer, and her sister Martha Bell.  Nancy is survived by her three sons, Edward (Kim), William (Josie), and James (Eva), nine grandchildren, and a host of beautiful great grandchildren.

Nancy was known as a committed and loving mother.   She was also faithful to her extended family, friends, neighbors, and church.  Her strong faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ, was reflected in her life and was passed on to her grateful descendants.  

Nancy was a member at First Baptist Church of Indianapolis, attending there since 1969.  Nancy taught Weekday Religious Education in the 1960’s and Sunday School at her church for many years.  

Nancy was a committed bibliophile, who maintained membership in various book clubs throughout her years in Indianapolis.  She loved history and stories of her beloved country.  Of all of her studies she was particularly devoted to her study of the Bible.   Her favorite chapter was Psalm 103.  

She also enjoyed lifelong friendships with dear friends in her Butler Pi Phi chapter.

A memorial service will be held at a date yet to be determined.

Nancy will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
