Paul Saunders

Paul S. Saunders, age 69, a resident of Redkey, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis. 

            Paul was born on July 1, 1954, in Portland, the son of Robert and Elizabeth (Hiestand) Saunders.  He worked for many years in installing monument foundations at cemeteries.  He also worked in concessions and show business where he travelled the country putting on shows with Draco the Dragon.  Paul served as President of Wells Cemetery Association since 1972.  He was a member of Portland Church of Christ (formally Southside Church of Christ).  He married Katherine Johnson in 2013. 

            Survivors include:

            His wife:  Katherine Saunders – Redkey, Indiana

            Step-children:  William Green (wife Nikkia) – Portland, Indiana

                                     Dustin Green – Portland, Indiana

            Brother:  Harry Saunders – Portland, Indiana

            6 grandchildren

            Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at Portland Church of Christ, 1217 W. Votaw St., Portland, Indiana 47371.  Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.  Bob Graham will officiate the service and burial will follow at Wells Cemetery, northwest of Portland. 

            Memorials may be directed towards the family in care of Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home.
