Sara Jane Gaumer

     Sara Jane Gaumer, age 92, a resident of Portland, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Persimmon Ridge in Portland. 

     Sara was born on March 27, 1931, in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Homer and Sara (Sowash) Smith.  She graduated from South Williamsport High School in Pennsylvania in 1949 and worked for Gracewood State School and Hospital for 24 years and retired in 1993.  She was a member of the Portland First Church of the Nazerene.  Sara married Robert Gaumer on August 25, 1951 and he passed away on August 11, 2005.

     Survivors include:

     Son: David Gaumer (Wife Elaine) – North Augusta, South Carolina

     Daughter: Sandra Pascarella (Husband Thomas) - Portland. Indiana

     Sisters: Joanne Dixon – New Stanton, Pennsylvania

                  Betty Griffith – Pennsylvania

                  Nettie Emigh – Carlton, Pennsylvania

                  Ginger Rich – (Husband Noel) – Alexandria, Minnesota

     Brother: Robert Smith – Morrisdale, Pennsylvania

     Grandson: Robert J. Pascarella – North Carolina

     Visitation will be Friday July 14, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland.  Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Salamonia Cemetery in Salamonia, Indiana

     Memorials may be directed towards Portland First Church of the Nazarene.
