Scherlene Brown

     Scherlene J. Brown, age 85, a resident of rural Union City, passed away at her home surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. 

     Scherlene was born on May 4, 1938 to Joe Hendricks and Dorothy (Mann).  She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, Roswell Devroy, her brother, Jim Hendricks, step brother and a son-in-law Michael Warren.  She was also preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Robert Brown.  Robert and Scherlene married at her step-father and mother’s home on January 6, 1956.  They leave behind to cherish their memory three daughters, Katherine Osborne (husband Paul), Roma Warren and Devona Lemley and her half-brother.  As well as six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and a number of friends that are considered family. 

     Scherlene was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on May 20, 1961 and volunteered her time sharing the Bible’s promise with many.  Such as an earthly paradise (Psalms 37:10-11), and the resurrection of loved ones to that paradise (John 5:28) to name a couple. 

     Visitation will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland.  Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.  Scott Bright will officiate the service and burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery, west of Bryant. 

      Memorials may be directed towards the World Wide Work of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
