Van E. Guntle, age 50, a resident of Portland passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018 at IU Health Jay Hospital following a sudden illness. He was employed at MSSL Wiring in Portland. He had also worked for Jay County Highway Department for several years. Van loved softball and played in several men’s and co-ed leagues in the Jay County area every summer.
Van Guntle was born April 9, 1968 in Portland, Indiana the son of Oddrie and Sally (McKibben) Guntle, Jr.
Survivors Include:
2 Daughters- Tequila Wagner (husband-Brett), Linn Grove, and Chelsea Pavey, Celina, Ohio
3 Sons- Joshua Guntle, Plainfield, Vance Guntle, Portland, and Dillon Guntle, Elkhart.
Parents- Oddrie and Sally Guntle, Portland
Grandmother- Helen McKibben, Dunkirk
2 Brothers- Barry Guntle, Portland and David Guntle, Portland
2 Sisters- Tracey Winget, Redkey, and Lori Estep, Redkey
6 Grandchildren
Funeral services will be held at 6pm on Thursday, January 3, 2018 at the Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Pastor Marlene Ellis will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 3-6pm on Thursday prior to the services at the funeral home.
