Vickie May

           Vickie May, age 74, a resident of rural Salamonia, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022 at her home. 

            Vickie was born on October 21, 1947, in New Castle, Indiana, the daughter of Hubert and Hester (Zachary) Butler.  Vickie farmed with her husband in Madison Township for many years.  She was a member of Salamonia Church of Christ where she served as Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader and the Women’s Guild.  She also served with the Jay County Hospital Auxiliary for many years.  Vickie married Ed May on September 21, 1969.

            Vickie loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. 

            Survivors include:

            Her husband of 52 years:  Ed May – rural Salamonia, Indiana

            1 daughter:  Nicole Harris (husband David) – rural Portland, Indiana

            1 son:  John May (wife Missy) – rural Salamonia, Indiana

            1 sister:  Sylvia Reum – Albany, Indiana

            6 grandchildren:  Dylan, Taylor, Dustin, Danielle, Courtney and Natalie

            Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland.  Services to celebrate Vickie’s life will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Salamonia Church of Christ 3900 S. 600 E., Portland, Indiana 47371. Burial will follow at Salamonia Cemetery in Salamonia.  

             Memorials may be directed towards Salamonia Church of Christ.
