William "Bill" Calhoun

     William “Bill” Calhoun, 67, of Berne, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 2, 2023 after an extended illness.  He was born on October 5, 1955, in Portland, Indiana, to Charles and May (Smith) Calhoun. 

     Bill was a 1974 graduate of Portland High School.  He was united in marriage to Sharyl Turner on October 22, 1977, and was employed as a driver for Zurcher’s Best-One of Monroe for 35 years.  Bill attended Fellowship Baptist Church of Portland and Old Path Baptist Church of Portland. 

     Bill was preceded in death by his parents, as well as sister Naomi Livezey. 

     Bill is survived by his wife of 46 years:  Sharyl Calhoun of Berne, Indiana

     His children:  Amy Orr (Eric), of Berne, Matt Calhoun (Alissa) of Berne, and Jonathan Calhoun (Chandra Zimmer), of Decatur. Bill especially cherished every moment spent with their grandchildren, Easton, Anna and Grant Calhoun; Sophia, Audrey and Kathryn Orr; and Addison and Makenna Rich. 

     Other survivors include a brother, Dan Snyder (Jan), of Florida, and sisters Charlene Duff, of Berne, and Sandra Young, of Portland, as well as many nieces and nephews. 

     Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Hodson of Old Path Baptist Church of Portland officiating.  Burial will follow at MRE Cemetery, Berne with friend Kevin Lehman, Berne, presiding.
